Europa League: Athletic Bilbao Were The Better Team – Leon Balogun Concedes

Following Rangers' elimination from the UEFA Europa League, Nigerian defender Leon Balogun has acknowledged that Athletic Bilbao deserved their victory, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Spanish outfit secured a 2-0 win over Rangers on Thursday in Spain, progressing to the semi-finals with a 2-0 aggregate score. Balogun admitted that his team failed to pose a significant threat to the La Liga side.

 "I think you have to be honest — we didn’t show enough quality to really trouble them," he told the BBC.

 "We came here with high expectations, especially for ourselves, but unfortunately, we didn’t live up to them."

"I know it’s not what the supporters back home want to hear, but sometimes you have to hold your hands up. Bilbao proved they were the better team."
