Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho may have sustained a hamstring injury during their 2-1 victory over Sturm Graz in Thursday’s Europa League clash, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The injury occurred early in the game, forcing Iheanacho off the pitch, with Johnny Kenny coming on as his replacement.
Speaking after the match, Rodgers expressed concern over the Nigerian’s condition, noting that it appeared to be a hamstring problem.
“The first two [Iheanacho and Johnston]? It doesn’t look great. It looks like hamstrings. But okay, that’s what happens,” Rodgers told TNT Sports.
Iheanacho, who missed Nigeria’s last World Cup qualifying round due to fitness issues, is now a major doubt for the upcoming playoffs.
