FC Porto began their UEFA Europa League campaign on a winning note after edging out Austrian side RB Salzburg 1-0 away from home on Thursday night, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Portuguese giants showed resilience to claim all three points, with the decisive goal coming in the second half to seal a hard-fought victory.

However, it was not all smiles for Porto as Nigeria’s Super Eagles defender, Zaidu Sanusi, was forced off in the 52nd minute after picking up an injury.

The left-back, who had been impressive before the setback, was replaced immediately, raising concerns over his fitness for upcoming fixtures.

Porto will now shift focus to their domestic commitments while awaiting updates on Sanusi’s condition ahead of the next round of European matches.
