Ex-Arsenal Star Partey Hit With Two New Rape Charges

Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been charged with two additional counts of rape involving a new alleged victim, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The 32-year-old Ghana international had previously pleaded not guilty to five counts of rape relating to two women and one count of sexual assault involving a third woman. With the latest charges, Partey now faces allegations of sexual offences concerning four women.
The two new counts relate to alleged incidents said to have occurred in 2020. According to reports, the allegations were first brought to police in August last year and stem from a separate Metropolitan Police investigation.
Partey is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 13 March for an initial hearing concerning the new charges.
In September, he was granted conditional bail at Southwark Crown Court after entering not guilty pleas to the original five charges. Those alleged offences are said to have taken place between 2021 and 2022 during his time at Arsenal.
He was formally charged last year, four days after his contract with the north London club expired at the end of June. The charges followed an investigation launched in February 2022 after police received an initial report of rape.
A trial under a High Court judge is currently scheduled to begin on 2 November.
Since leaving the Premier League, Partey has joined Spanish side Villarreal on a one-year contract. The move was confirmed in the summer after he had already been charged.
Partey joined Arsenal from Atlético Madrid for £45.3 million in October 2020 and made 130 Premier League appearances under manager Mikel Arteta.
His lawyer, Jenny Wiltshire, has previously stated that he “denies all the charges against him” and welcomed “the opportunity to finally clear his name.”
