Ex-D'Tigers Captain Olumide Elected As Chairman NAC

Olympian, Olumide Oyedeji, who was appointed by Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) in 2018 was on Tuesday elected as the Chairman of Nigeria Athletes Commission (NAC).


He was elected unopposed with 29 votes out of 30 votes cast at Media Centre of Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.


Other members elected are; Henry Okorie who polled 20 votes as Nigeria Volleyball Federation Players Representative, Emmanuel Jatto, scored 20 votes while Blessing Onyeali polled 16 votes.


While congratulating the newly elected member of the Commission the President, Nigeria Olympics Committee (NOC) Engr. Habu Gumel who was represented by Dr Ademola Are charged the elected members to represent athletes well in the interest of Nigeria sports.


The NOC President urged the elected members to represent the interest of the athletes for the growth and development of sports in the country.


"Don't be discourage, the journey is not smooth, represent athletes well, interface with NOC they will listen to you.


"Athletes Commission need to come together especially on the area of harassment, drug abuse and and others ugly incident that use to be happen among the athletes."


He charged all stakeholders to work together in the interest of Sports.


Speaking on the victory, elated Oyedeji said: "it's a big task and tough challenge for me and will not leave any stone unturned for the betterment of all athletes.


"We will ensure that athlete voice are heard, we will promote the interest of athletes in sports, we will make them involved in policy and decision making that represent the interest of the athletes and Nigeria sports at large."


To be a member of NAC, such person must be an Olympian.
