Ex-Super Eagles Coach Vies For Benue FA Top Job

A former coach of the Super Eagles and Enyimba Godwin Koko Uwua is among the top guns vying to be the Chairman of the Benue State Football Association, reports BSNSports.com.ng.


The tussle of who becomes the next chairman of Benue State FA heats up, as the report has it that the incumbent Margaret Icheen is unwilling to run after three successful terms, and more contestants are emerging on the block.


It was scooped that, Uwua from Gwer/Gwer West, Barrister Paul Ede from Ado/Ogbadibo/Okpokwu, and the proprietor of JM Liberty Jerry Avungu from Makurdi/Guma have fully joined the race.


Other contestants for board positions include Alex Awuna also from Gwer/Gwer West who indicated intention to vie for Vice Chairman, Barr Lubem Ukpo (Gboko/Tarka), Hon Veronica Kpindi (Katsina/Ukum/Logo, Atoo Aindigh (Buruku), Godwin Akpa (Apa/Agatu), Onwanyi Ulegede (Obi/Oju), Francis Ejiga (Otukpo/Ohimini) and Marcel Akaasar (Vandeikya.Konshisha).


 Electoral Committee Chairman Barr Msugh Aga, informed that the sale of nomination forms closed Friday, May 26, 2023, with interested persons obtaining their forms at the office of the FA Secretary at 200,000, 150,000, and 100,000 for Chairmanship, Vice Chairman, and Members respectively. Wednesday, June 1, 2023, will be the last day for returning forms, while screening of eligible candidates will commence immediately after.

The Election is expected to take place on June 17, 2023, at Empire Suites, David Mark By Pass Makurdi.
