Exclusive: Ekong Leads Super Eagles Players To Meet With Éric Chelle Ahead Of Monday Unveiling

Super Eagles captain, William Troost Ekong has agreed to lead in introducing the newly acquired Super Eagles Coach, Eric Chelle to other players before he will be unveiled on Monday in Abuja, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) had erroneously failed to inform the team's captain before announcement of the Franco-Malian coach via press release on Wednesday. However, the error being corrected and the 31-year Saudi Pro League player had met the coach before the introduction of the former Mali Coach to his teammates. Chelle contract is tied to the Nigeria's 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier, both (the qualifier and the contract) will end in October, 2025.
The results from the remaining World Cup qualifier fixtures will determine whether or not his contract will be extended. If favourable, he will lead the three times African champions to the African Nations Cup.
Nigeria is in precarious situation in Group C having garnered just three points from four games while Rwanda, South Africa and Benin Republic are first , second and third respectively with seven points apiece. Lesotho are fourth with five points as Zimbabwe are languishing in the bottom of the table with just two points.
