The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has officially confirmed a two-year contract for Super Falcons head coach, Justin Madugu, following his historic triumph at the last CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Madugu led the Super Falcons to their record-extending 10th African title, coming from behind to defeat host nation Morocco in a dramatic final, a feat that reaffirmed Nigeria’s dominance in women’s football on the continent.

Speaking to BSN Sports on Friday, NFF General Secretary Dr. Mohammed Sanusi confirmed the decision, stating that the move followed extensive evaluations by both the Federation's Technical Committee and Technical Department.

“Justin Madugu has been given a two-year contract by the NFF,” Sanusi told BSN Sports.

“This decision was reached after the Technical Committee and Technical Department completed their review processes. Despite interest from several high-profile coaches, they unanimously agreed that Madugu understands the team better than anyone else.”

Although the coach’s salary details were not disclosed, the appointment puts Madugu in charge of leading the Super Falcons to the next Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), set to be hosted again by Morocco.

The upcoming edition, scheduled for 2026, will be historic as the first to feature 16 teams, following CAF’s recent expansion announcement.

Adding to his accolades, Madugu was nominated for the 2025 Ballon d’Or Coach of the Year award, becoming the first African coach to earn such recognition, a testament to his impact and rising international profile.
