Exclusive: NFF Set To Confirm Aweroro, Biffo As Olympic Eagles Assistant Coaches

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is expected to officially announce the appointments of Abdullahi Biffo and Nurudeen Aweroro as assistant coaches of the Nigeria U-23 national team, the Olympic Eagles, in the coming days, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The appointments come after the NFF confirmed on Tuesday that Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle will also take charge of the Olympic Eagles as Nigeria begins preparations for the qualification campaign for the 2028 Olympic Games. The National Sports Commission also announced an improved contract package for the Franco-Malian tactician.
Biffo, a respected figure in domestic football, recently joined the national team setup after being appointed assistant coach to the Flying Eagles. The former Kwara United and Sporting Lagos manager who doubled as first assistant to assist Aliyu Zubairu's successor, Abdu Maikaba, as Nigeria targets qualification for the 2026 CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations through the WAFU B Championship.
Aweroro's inclusion follows an impressive spell with Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan. Since taking charge of the club, he has overseen a remarkable resurgence, guiding the Oluyole Warriors to qualification for the 2026/27 CAF Confederation Cup and ending the club's 27-year absence from continental competition.
Under his leadership, 3SC also secured a third-place finish in the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League season. In addition, Aweroro played a key role in the development of players who earned call-ups to the senior national team for the 2026 Unity Cup and the African Nations Championship (CHAN).
The expected appointments of Biffo and Aweroro are seen as part of the NFF's efforts to assemble a strong technical team capable of leading the Olympic Eagles back to the Olympic Games for the first time since Rio 2016.
