Exclusive: NFF To Announce Super Eagles, Flying Eagles Coaches This Week
By Niyi Busari
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will this week announce the Super Eagles and Flying Eagles coaches before the end of this week, BSNSports.com.ng can report.
Since the resignation of Finidi George in June, the federation has not appointed a replacement with less than six weeks to an AFCON qualifiers.
An NFF chieftain who spoke on condition of anonymity revealed in an exclusive interview with www.bsnsports.com.ng that the federation will announce the head coaches of the Super Eagles and the Flying Eagles.
"We have to take our time considering the pedigree of the coach and ability to pay without owing him. Despite the time being against us, we must be very careful by not solving one problem to create another. We don't want to repeat the mistake of the past where coaches were announced without avenue for payment of his salary.
But now, we have settled for a good coach whom we can afford to pay without owing him and the coach will be announced this week."
As for the Flying Eagles, after much scrutiny, we have concluded on choosing the best and that person will be made known to Nigerians this week." He concluded.
He however, failed to reveal the name of the coaches.
Barely one month after being unveiled as the 41st manager to handle the Nigerian senior national team, Finidi George in June 2024 resigned from his position.
The former Super Eagles winger led the team to a 1-1 draw against South Africa at home in Uyo and a 2-1 loss to Benin Republic in Abidjan, putting Nigeria’s qualification to the World Cup in serious doubt.
