One of the newly appointed assistant coaches for the CHAN Eagles Fidelis Ilechukwu has aired his opinion on the coaching crew while also weighing the team's chances in the coming tournament, BSNSports.com.ng can report.
While speaking exclusively to BSNSports.com.ng correspondent, Ilechukwu express his joy to be among the chosen coaches for the job despite the number of good coaches in the league.
"I'm very very happy for the appointment, you know its not easy because we have a lot of coaches in Nigeria that are good, so when given the opportunity we must value the opportunity. We must understand that we're not the only people that are doing well in the league but now that the chance has been given to us we must bring out our mind to work, we must do everything possible technically, tactically to support the head coach of the CHAN team which is Salisu Yusuf."
"I'm the youngest among and then I'm always humble to work, I always want to contribute and also advise and we'll do everything humanly possible on our own to make sure that we come together to support, advice and work very very hard so that we can achieve the desired result in CHAN," the added.
The Plateau United gaffer believes the experience of the coaches in the team will go a long way in helping them achieve the desired results.
"All the coaches in CHAN team are experience coaches because we know the players that are doing very well in the league and the head coach knows a lot and we'll be there to support him to get good results. Everybody will not be there at the same time but I know that the best legs are going to be there because I know Salisu Yusuf very very well."
While praising the former coach he assisted in Imama Amapakabo, he also praised Salisu Yusuf for his listening hears to subordinates despite his wealth of experiences.
"I think the last time we faced ab lot of hard luck, not that we don't have a team, we had a very strong team the last time that is the truth but you know that sometimes hard luck. We had a very strong team and then also, Imama listened to us. He is a coach that listens. All the advice given to him he followed it up because he knows we can't mislead because we're not looking for the job.
"We always want to advice in a way that will make us achieve because if one should achieve a success then everyone achieved it, so that was what we did but at the end of the day things could not go our way because of hard luck and this time around, we'll still do our best and also understands the coach's (Salisu Yusuf) method and philosophy.
"He is father, he is a mentor and a coach that listens as well so we're going to do our best to contribute positively to the team to make sure that we get positive results so that's meant to and that's what we're praying should happen.
This is the second time Fidelis Ilechukwu will be assisting the CHAN head coach having done previously to Imama Amapakabo.
