Exclusives: Sunday Dare's Speech At NYSC @50 In Asaba, Delta State

BSNSports.com.ng reported that the Federal Ministry of Sports Development, in conjunction with the Delta State Government, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to host the National Youth Games for the next four years.

The Minister, Sunday Akin Dare, responded by admitting the state's impact on the development of football both at the grassroots and nationally.

"Delta State undoubtedly has become even more involved in Nigerian sports.

"When you check the data in recent years, you'll see the central role that Delta State plays when it comes to Sports Development.

"From grassroots to subregional sports development, even at the national level. And indeed the contribution of Delta to team Nigeria when it comes to football, athletics, and basketball.

"In the last four years, Delta State has been a major part of our success as a Youth and Sports ministry.

"Delta has also been part of the success story that team Nigeria has had, with the facts out in the public domain.

Sunday Dare also expressed his heartfelt joy regarding the agreement between the Youths and Sports Ministry, and the Delta State Government in reserving the hosting rights for the National Youth Games.

"So we are happy that shortly after the National Sports Festival, which was successfully held here last year in December, we are back here again.

"We thank His Excellency, for graciously agreeing to host the national youth games, and for the next four years, and that is important for us.

"The National Youth Games is the soft soil of our sports development, for talent hunt, and grassroots programs.

"Like I usually say, the gold of a child is when you find them young, you train and nurture them so they can yield forth performances.

"It is a very important part of my work that as I leave, for the next four years, our young talents, some undiscovered, others discovered, will find a home in Delta State."
