Expansion Of Members, Elective Congress Top Agenda As NFF Calls Extraordinary Congress

By BSN Sports

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has formally notified its stakeholders of plans to convene an Extraordinary Congress, with proposals to expand the Executive Committee and Congress membership, as well as preparations for the September Elective Congress, topping the agenda.

According to Complete Sports, the Extraordinary Congress is scheduled for February 14 in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, and will be held outside the Federation’s statutory Annual General Assembly (AGA). It is expected to bring together members of the NFF Executive Committee, chairmen of state football associations, representatives of domestic leagues, and other key stakeholders within the Nigerian football structure.

Sources within the Glass House revealed to complete sports that the meeting is being convened to address urgent administrative, statutory, and policy-related matters considered critical to the effective governance and long-term development of football in the country.

Among the key issues expected to be deliberated upon is the proposed expansion of the NFF Executive Committee and Congress membership. The proposals have already been communicated to stakeholders and are expected to generate extensive debate during the Congress.

Preparations for the NFF Elective Congress, scheduled for September, will also feature prominently. The Elective Congress will mark the end of the first four-year tenure of the current NFF administration led by Ibrahim Gusau and will usher in continuation of the present board members or a new Executive Committee to oversee the affairs of Nigerian football.

With major governance decisions looming, the February Extraordinary Congress is widely seen as a crucial step in shaping the leadership and administrative direction of the Nigeria Football Federation ahead of the upcoming elections.
