Eze: I Wasn't Obsessed About Playing for England At The Qatar World Cup
Alfred Kadiri
Eberechi Eze has claimed that he wasn't obsessed about playing for England at the 2922 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, BSNSports.com.ng has gathered.
The Nigeria-born winger was on the World Cup standby list for the Three Lions.
But he said: "If I'm honest, I was not thinking about it. It's difficult to focus on anything else other than my own game and me playing football.
"Nothing else, I just want to play my football and focus on being the best player that I can be, and contribute to my team and that's where I'm at right now."
Eze though has kept his eye on the World Cup - a tournament that has been full of surprises so far - though the Three Lions who made it to the last eight, were finally eliminated from the Mundial on Saturday after losing 2-1 to France in the quarterfinals.
"Just watching World Cups it's just more of a huge motivation for kids watching. That experience of representing your country at a major tournament is something everyone wants to go through.
"It's something I'm working towards. I want to perform and play at the big tournaments."
