Amobi Ezeaku Esq., the General Manager and CEO of eight-time Nigeria league champions Rangers International, has publicly shouldered the responsibility for the club's poor performance in the just-concluded 2024/2025 season, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Speaking at an end-of-season media interactive session held at the club's corporate office boardroom in Enugu on Friday, May 30, 2025, Ezeaku addressed fans and supporters.

He urged them to hold him accountable for a season that saw the club finish 10th in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) and reach the semi-finals of the President Federation Cup.

He began by expressing gratitude to the Enugu State government, led by H.E. Dr. Peter Mbah, for their unwavering support in realizing the club's strategic plans (2023-2027).

He also acknowledged the vital contributions of numerous sponsors and partners, including Afrinvest West Africa, Nortra Tractors, Kitchen Pastries, PC Clothing, Amakris Kitchen, Senior Barman, and many others.

"Let me start by thanking all that pulled their weights behind us towards achieving all that we were able to achieve at the end of the season," Ezeaku stated.

"We must not fail to recognise the number one supporter and chief financier of the club, H.E, Dr. Peter Mbah for his government's solid support for the club just as the financial boost from our major sponsors, Afrinvest West Africa and Nortra Tractors can't be lost on us."

Ezeaku, did not shy away from the team's shortcomings. "Let me inform all that I take full responsibility for what happened at the club in the 2024/2025 season," he declared.

He emphasized the importance of learning from past experiences to build a stronger future.

"In the game of football what we have is always to take the lessons of the past season to prepare for the coming season. We were champions of 2023/2024 and ended this season on 10th spot while losing out in the semi-final of the President Federation Cup. We have learnt our lessons and have started taking action..."

Outlining immediate steps for the upcoming season, Ezeaku revealed that the club has successfully committed coach Fidelis Ilechukwu to a new contract term and is actively in discussions to bring in "quality legs."

On a brighter note, he celebrated the invitation of three Rangers players to the senior national team, where they are currently representing the club with distinction at the Unity Cup Tournament in London.
