Ezekiel Nathaniel Becomes First Nigerian To Make 400mH World Final Since 1987

Ezekiel Nathaniel stormed to victory in the second semifinal of the men’s 400mH at the Tokyo 2025 World Championships, clocking 47.47s, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

He crossed the line ahead of Ismail Abakar who set a Personal Best of 47.61s, with Caleb Dean 3rd in 47.85s.

After two consecutive semifinal heartbreaks at the World Championships, Nathaniel finally broke through, qualifying for his first-ever final with the fastest time overall in 47.47s Nathaniel has now entered into the record books, becoming the second Nigerian athlete since 1987 to qualify for the final of the 400m Hurdles at the World Championships since Henry Amike.
