Olayinka Ogunleye, a product of 36 Lion, has been chosen by FC Dallas as the 66th overall selection in the 2026 MLS SuperDraft, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Standing at 6 feet 4 inches, Ogunleye hails from Nigeria, and has established himself as a key player in the University of Louisville's defense throughout his college tenure.

He made a significant impact as a freshman in 2024, participating in 12 games with 11 starts and accumulating 915 minutes on the field.

Over time, he evolved into a dependable two-way player for the Cardinals. During the 2025 season, Ogunleye played a vital role both defensively and offensively, starting all 17 matches for the Cardinals.

He netted several crucial goals, including his first of the season in a dominant 4-0 win against IU Indianapolis and the equalizer in a 1-1 tie at Lipscomb, finishing the season with two goals and one assist from his defensive position.

In response to this achievement, Hajji Gafar Liameed, Adviser at 36 Lion, expressed his excitement over Ogunleye's recent goal.

"The SuperDraft is always an exhilarating occasion, marking a significant milestone for these players and their families who have dedicated themselves to achieving this opportunity."

"We at 36 Lion are thrilled to have had the opportunity to develop and refine Olayinka's talent.

"Olayinka is a left-footed defender with remarkable technical skills, a strong understanding of the game, and impressive mobility. We are confident he has a promising future ahead with immense potential," added Hajji Gafar.

Football experts and stakeholders view this development as a positive advancement for Nigerian football, highlighting the significance of academic and athletic excellence in nurturing talent.
