Despite playing a key role in the club’s successful campaign this season, newly crowned African champions FC Pyramid have opted not to sign Nigerian forward Sodiq Awujoola on a permanent basis, BSNSports.com.ng reports

The 24-year-old striker joined Pyramid on loan from Cleopatra FC last summer and quickly became a fan favorite with his impressive performances.

However, after several rounds of negotiations, Pyramid has informed Cleopatra FC that they are unwilling to meet the $2 million asking price for a permanent transfer. As Awujoola’s loan deal expires on June 30, Cleopatra FC has requested his return.

During his time at Pyramid, Awujoola made 25 appearances, scoring five goals and providing five assists.
