The Chairman of the FCT Football Association (FA), Adam Mouktar Mohammed, has said football in the Federal Capital Territory and beyond has lost a dedicated and passionate Stakeholder in John Wakili aka Waco.

Waco, who was on the Executive Committee of the FCT FA as well as proprietor of the reputable WACO Football Academy Abuja, died suddenly on Thursday, September 22, 2022.

Mouktar Mohammed expressed shock and disbelief at the passing of Waco and said the vacuum he has left will be very difficult to be filled.

“We still cannot believe that ’Waco’ is no more. It is still unbelievable, like a very bad dream,” the FCT FA Chairman lamented.

“Our heart-felt condolences go to his wife and children as well as all those who knew him.

“We pray that almighty God grants them all the fortitude to bear this big loss.

“This is one man who rose to prominence from very humble beginning and in his lifetime touched the lives of many players, both young and old, men and women.

“Waco was not only a very committed supporter of football in the FCT, he also invested everything he had in the development of the sport at the grassroots.”

He added: “I remember how proud I was when his team emerged FCT Champions three years ago and I personally presented the trophy to him.

“He proved that day that you can aim for the stars no matter how you started.

“He set high standards as a player, a coach and as the owner of a top academy and it will be very difficult to replace him.”
