Team Federal Capital Territory (FCT) concluded their campaign at the 2024 National Sports Festival in Ogun State with a commendable eighth-place finish, securing a total of 39 medals across various disciplines, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

While Team FCT’s performance showed a drop in medal count compared to their ninth-place finish in 2022, where they earned 59 medals, their overall ranking improved by one position.

As widely anticipated, Team Delta dominated the medal table, finishing first with an impressive haul of 337 medals, including 126 gold, 100 silver, and 111 bronze. Host state Ogun delivered a strong performance, finishing second with 238 medals—93 gold, 65 silver, and 80 bronze.

Team Bayelsa followed closely in third place, amassing a total of 228 medals, comprised of 92 gold, 65 silver, and 71 bronze. Team Rivers rounded out the top four.

Team Edo, Team Oyo and Team Lagos finished 5th, 6th and 7th on the final table while Team Osun and Akwa Ibom finished 9th and 10th in the Top 10 ranking.

The festival, Nigeria’s premier multi-sport event, brought together thousands of athletes from across the country to compete in a range of sporting events, serving both as a platform for talent development and a celebration of national unity through sport.
