FCT SWAN To Host All NFF Presidential Aspirants In Debate

The FCT Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has concluded plans to organise a debate where all Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) presidential aspirants will be on hot seat to tell Nigerians what they intend doing to develop the game when voted to lead Nigeria football.

This is contained in their Communique released after their Congress on Thursday in Abuja. To this end, a four-man Committee was Inaugurated to midwife the success of the event. The committee members are; Chris Onokpegu, Ben Ogbemudia, Niyi Busari and Calister Enegele. 

The Presidential debate is scheduled to hold at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in September, 2022.

SWAN also appealed to Federal Government and Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development to as a matter of urgency tender public apology and compensate the Nigeria Women senior basketball team D'Tigress for their role resulting into the team missing the FIBA Women World Cup.

SWAN also proposes to pay a courtesy visit to the Minister of Sports and convince him on the need to to include Sports Writers as members of the proposed expanded NFF Congress. The communique in full.

The FCT Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN Congress met on Thursday, 1st September 2022 at FCT NUJ office, Utako Abuja to deliberate on important issues in Nigeria sports and resolved as follows:

1) FCT SWAN congratulates the Federal Government and the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sport Development for the support and encouragement given to the athletes that led to the successes recorded at the just-concluded Commonwealth Games. An outing rated as Nigeria's best since inception of the Games.

2) FCT SWAN also congratulates the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for not elongating the tenure of the executive committee members and thereby setting up apparatus for elections which will happen on 30th September 2022.

3) The Congress however propose that SWAN should pay a visit to the Minister of Sports and convince him on the need to include sports writers as members of the proposed expanded NFF Congress.

4) FCT SWAN set up Committee to organise Presidential Debate for aspirants in the forthcoming' NFF election slated for Moshood Abiola Stadium this September.

5) Following the above, SWAN constituted a three-man Committee to midwife successful 'NFF PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE : FCT SWAN NFF PRESIDENTIAL DEBATES. The Committee members are Chris Onokpegu, Ben Ognemudia, Niyi Busari and Calister Enegele.

6) Finally, FCT SWAN appeals to Federal Government and the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development to as a matter of urgency tender a public apology and compensate the Nigeria Senior Women's National basketball team, D'Tigress for their role in the team's expulsion from the FIBA Women's World Cup 2022 which is upcoming.
