FCT U-12/U-15 Handball Championship: Kuje Area Defeat AMAC In Classic Male Clash

Kuje Area Council on Thursday showed superiority, class and tenacity as they defeated hard fighting Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC 23-24 in an epic math in the U-15 male category at the ongoing FCT U-12/U-15 Inter-Area Council Handball Championship


In the last match of the day and game number 9, the match leaved up to its pre-match hipe as both teams right from the blast of the whistle showed intent and determination to win. 


Kuje drew the first blood within seconds of the commencement of the match but AMAC responded immediately in clinical style. 


Within five minutes of the match both teams have scored each other five times and at half time, the score were balanced in 13-all.


The recommencement of the second half witnessed more intensity as neither of the teams succumbed to the pressure and attack by the opponents.


With less than 3 minutes to go, AMAC were leading 22-21 before Kuje rallied in the closing stage to snatch the vital win in a 24-23 scoreline 


In the results of other matches played on Day 2 of the tournament, Kuje Area Council defeat Gwagwalada Area Council 10-1 in the female U-12 category while in the male category of the U-12, Kwali Area Council came from behind to defeat Bwari 10-7 in the second match of the day. 


AMAC female U-15 defeated their Bwari counterparts 9-2 while in the male category, Kwali Area Council lost 6-20 to Kuje Area Council.


Gwagwalada triumphed 16-10 against Abaji in the male U-15 category but their U-12 male team were humbled 31-1 by AMAC.


Kwali U-15 female team were handed 9-1 bashing by their Kuje Area Council opponents.


The last epic match of the day saw defending champions AMAC U-15 male lost narrowly 23-24 to their Kuje opponents.


Dignitaries who watched today's matches include the Director of FCT Sports Council, Mr Mr. Luka Istifanus, the Technical Director of Handball Federation of Nigeria, HFN and chief coach of Road Safety Handball club, Bala Mohammed as well as the Chairman, FCT Handball Association, Ambassador Dr Edward Olutoke along with some of his board members.
