FECAFOOT Crisis: Eto’o Hit With Another Setback As Elections Suspended

Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) president Samuel Eto’o has suffered a fresh setback as the federation’s electoral process was officially suspended on Thursday, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Eto’o, who has already been barred from seeking re-election, remains locked in a bitter dispute with the Ministry of Sports.

In a letter dated Thursday and signed by supervisory minister Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, the ministry announced the suspension of the ongoing electoral process.

The decision, widely backed by a section of the local football community opposed to Eto’o’s leadership, was justified on grounds of irregularities and the non-ratification of FECAFOOT’s new statutes adopted last November.

Eto’o faces mounting accusations, including alleged arbitrary suspensions of members and potential candidates, sidelining of high-profile figures such as Geremi, and exclusion of referees deemed unsupportive of his administration.

He is also accused of deliberately expelling several clubs and replacing them with “ad hoc” teams that never featured in the championship, allegedly to manipulate the electorate in his favour.

This marks the second major blow against Eto’o in just two days, further deepening the crisis engulfing Cameroonian football.
