FG, IFBB Collaborate To Kick Out Non-commucable Diseases In Nigeria

The International Federation of Fitness and Body Building (IFBB), Federal Ministry of Health have started serious campaign against Non-communicable Diseases (NDCs) in Nigeria, BSNSprts.com.ng can report.
In a one-day gathering attended by stakeholders held at Nicon Luxury Hotel in Abuja on Thursday, the Non-communicable Disease Department under the Federal Ministry of Health in collaboration with IFBB, titled 'Nigeria Fitness Challenge' which commences on 1st October, 2024. The activity will start with workout, experience freedom and flexibility that determine strength.
The objective of the meeting is to get stakeholders involved in the awareness in kicking out NCDs and promotion of physical education in the grassroots to reduce the NCDs in the country.
To this end, the Federal Government has pledged to support the federation using body building sport to fight the cardiovascular related diseases and reason every Nigerian needs exercise to escape not being victim
Dr. Amadi Dorothy, a representative from the Ministry of Health stated that, physical activity, reduction in intake of salts, non-use of alcohol are some of the ways to combat the diseases.
Also speaking, Mr Soye Elekima, the President of the International Federation of Fitness and Body Building, stated the importance of exercise urging Nigerians to see fitness as a necessity for healthy living. He stated that sitting is more dangerous than smoking.
