Sampson Adedeji
Cameroon has been selected as one of the host nations for the third window of the African qualifiers for the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The decision was confirmed by the FIBA Africa Regional Office following a meeting held in Abidjan on April 15, 2026.
The qualification games are scheduled to take place from July 2 to July 5, 2026, with Cameroon hosting the Group A fixtures.
Group A consists of Cape Verde, Libya, South Sudan, and hosts Cameroon, popularly known as the Indomitable Lions of basketball.
The hosting rights represent another milestone for Cameroon as the country continues to establish itself as a destination for major international sporting events on the continent.
Senegal will host the Group B matches, which feature Côte d’Ivoire and the Democratic Republic of Congo, while Angola has been chosen to stage the fixtures for Groups C and D.
The next phase of the qualifiers follows the previous qualification window held earlier in February in Alexandria and Dakar.
FIBA also disclosed that the host countries for the fourth qualification window will be announced after May 15, 2026.
