The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has invited national federations, including Nigeria, to submit bids to host the 2027 Women's AfroBasket tournament, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Although no official bids have been submitted, Rwanda, Egypt, Senegal and Angola have all expressed interest in staging Africa's premier women's basketball championship.

FIBA is encouraging more member federations to participate in the bidding process as part of its efforts to expand and promote women's basketball across the continent.

Nigeria, one of Africa's traditional basketball powerhouses, is among the countries eligible to compete for the hosting rights, with the successful bidder expected to provide a platform for the continued growth and development of the women's game in Africa.

The host nation for the 2027 FIBA Women's AfroBasket will be confirmed after FIBA concludes its bidding and evaluation process.
