FIBA Women’s World Cup: D’Tigress Drop In Power Rankings After Qualifiers

Ahead of the FIBA Women’s World Cup in Berlin, Germany, the FIBA has released its latest power rankings for the qualified teams, with Nigeria’s D’Tigress slipping a place, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Nigerian side endured a mixed outing at the qualifying tournament, finishing fourth in their group after recording two wins and three defeats.

 Their performances have now seen them drop from eighth to ninth position in the updated rankings.

D’Tigress, who are reigning African champions, struggled against top opposition during the qualifiers.

 A heavy defeat to South Korea raised concerns, while losses to host nation Germany and European powerhouse France further highlighted areas needing improvement.

Despite the setbacks, there were positives for head coach Rena Wakama and her team. 

The Nigerian side showed resilience in parts, putting up competitive displays against both Germany and France, suggesting they can still compete at the highest level.

With the World Cup fast approaching, attention will now turn to fine-tuning tactics and improving consistency as D’Tigress aim to make a strong impression on the global stage.
