FIFA, CAF Delegates Arrive As NFF Holds Extraordinary Assembly in Yenogoa

Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa State, is set to host the 2026 Extraordinary General Assembly of the Nigeria Football Federation on Monday, March 23, .
Governor Douye Diri will formally declare the assembly open at the DSP Alamieyeseigha Banquet Hall, located within Government House in Yenagoa.
A number of high-profile stakeholders in Nigerian sports administration are expected to attend the gathering, including Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Shehu Dikko; the Commission’s Director-General, Bukola Olopade; Chairman of the Senate Committee on Sports, Abdul Ningi; and Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Sports, Kabiru Amadu.
The Extraordinary General Assembly will bring together chairmen and secretaries of football associations from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, alongside members of the NFF Executive Committee and management. Representatives of the domestic leagues, the Coaches Association, Referees Association, and the Players’ Union are also expected to participate.
President of the NFF, Ibrahim Musa Gusau, will deliver the opening address before proceedings move into the business session.
Key items on the agenda include deliberations on proposed amendments to the NFF Statutes, the Electoral Code, and the Standing Orders of the General Assembly. The Congress will also oversee the appointment of members to the NFF Electoral Committee and the Electoral Appeals Committee, as well as the selection of an independent auditor.
Officials from global football governing body FIFA and Africa’s continental authority, Confederation of African Football, are already in Nigeria to observe the proceedings.
