FIFA has officially confirmed that its Regional Headquarters for Southern Africa will be hosted in Sandton, South Africa, marking a significant milestone for football administration and development in the region, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The new office is expected to serve as a strategic hub for FIFA’s operations across Southern Africa, strengthening governance, coordination, and implementation of development programmes.

The move is also projected to create new jobs, expand professional opportunities, and stimulate investment in football-related infrastructure.

According to FIFA, the Sandton-based headquarters will enhance support for member associations through increased access to technical expertise, administrative resources, and development funding. 

It is also anticipated to lead to the introduction of more competitions and grassroots initiatives aimed at accelerating the growth of the game across the region.

South Africa’s selection reflects its established infrastructure, accessibility, and experience in hosting major international football events. 

The presence of the FIFA regional office is expected to further consolidate the country’s position as a leading football and sports administration centre on the African continent.
