Borussia Dortmund secured their first win in Group F of the FIFA Club World Cup with a dramatic 4–3 victory over South African champions Mamelodi Sundowns at the TQL Stadium in Cincinnati on Saturday, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

In a match brimming with attacking flair, Sundowns struck first in the 11th minute through Brazilian forward Lucas Ribeiro, catching the German side off guard with an early lead.

However, the Bundesliga champions responded swiftly. A costly error from Sundowns goalkeeper Ronwen Williams allowed Felix Nmecha to level the scores just five minutes later.

Dortmund took the lead in the 34th minute when Senegalese striker Serhou Guirassy found the net with a clinical finish. The advantage was extended before halftime as 18-year-old Jobe Bellingham—making his first competitive start for Dortmund—slotted home the third goal, giving the Germans a commanding 3–1 lead at the break.

Dortmund continued their dominance early in the second half. A dangerous cross from Daniel Svensson in the 59th minute deflected off defender Khuliso Mudau into his own net, making it 4–1.

To their credit, Mamelodi Sundowns refused to go down without a fight. Iqraam Rayners pulled one back just three minutes later, and substitute Lebo Mothiba scored deep into added time to make it 4–3. However, their late resurgence fell short as Dortmund held on for a hard-fought win.

The result lifts Dortmund in the Group F standings as they aim for a place in the knockout stages, while Sundowns will look to regroup ahead of their next fixture.
