FIFA has announced that the winners of the 2026 FIFA World Cup will receive championship rings for the first time in the tournament's history, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The new initiative, inspired by championship traditions in North American sports such as the NBA and NFL, will see 30 custom-designed rings presented to members of the victorious team in addition to the FIFA World Cup trophy and winners' medals.

According to FIFA, the championship rings are designed to serve as a permanent reminder of the players' achievement and celebrate their success on football's biggest stage.

FIFA also revealed that limited-edition versions of the rings will be made available to football fans around the world, giving supporters the opportunity to own an exclusive piece of World Cup memorabilia.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will mark the debut of the championship ring tradition, adding another unique feature to the expanded global tournament.
