FIFA Lifts Ban On Kenyan Football

After spending a year without international football, the world soccer ruling body has decided to lift the ban on Kenya football, BSNSports.com.ng understand.
FIFA placed an indefinite ban on Kenya football in November 2021 following the then Cabinet Secretary for Sports Amina Mohamed's order for an audit of FKF accounts.
Due to the ban Kenya miss out on the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and Harambee Starlets also missed the qualifiers for the World Cup against Uganda.
“The Bureau of the FIFA Council decided to lift the suspension that was imposed on the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) in February 2022 by article 16 of the FIFA Statutes,†reads a statement from FIFA.
“The decision was taken following a letter sent by FKF General Secretary Barry Otieno to FIFA, in which he confirmed that the Kenyan government, as represented by the newly appointed Cabinet Secretary for Sports, the Hon. Ababu Namwamba reinstated the FKF Executive Committee with immediate effect.
“The FKF General Secretary further asserted that the FKF offices had been handed back to the association’s elected leadership.â€
Upon the lifting of the suspension, a FIFA-CAF mission will be deployed to Nairobi to define the next steps for the FKF and to also meet with the newly appointed Cabinet Secretary for Sports", the statement read.
