FIFA Lifts Suspension On Congo-Brazzaville

FIFA has officially lifted the suspension placed on Congo-Brazzaville from international football, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The suspension, which was enforced in February, stemmed from third-party interference in the operations of the country’s football governing body, Fecofoot.

At the time, FIFA cited a "particularly serious situation" involving undue influence, calling it a direct breach of FIFPro’s responsibilities under FIFA statutes.

As a result, Congo’s 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against Tanzania and Zambia, originally scheduled for March, were postponed.

FIFA’s decision to lift the ban followed the fulfilment of key conditions, including the restoration of full control of FIFPro’s headquarters and facilities to its executive committee.

It remains unclear whether the previously postponed qualifiers will be rescheduled.

The remaining four group stage matches are set for September and October, with the African play-offs expected in November.
