FIFA Opens Disciplinary Case Against Congo FA Officials

World football governing body FIFA has initiated disciplinary proceedings against officials of the Congolese Football Federation (FECOFOOT) over alleged financial misconduct, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The development was confirmed in an official statement released on Tuesday, with FECOFOOT president Jean-Guy Mayolas identified among those facing serious allegations.

Earlier this month, Mayolas, alongside his wife and son, was handed a life sentence by a criminal court in Brazzaville after being found guilty of embezzling $1.1 million in FIFA funds.

The disciplinary investigation will also extend to the federation’s treasurer, Raoul Kanda, and general secretary, Wantete Badji.

“These proceedings follow the receipt of information and documents during an audit,” FIFA stated.
