FIFA Places Senegal Under Close Watch

World football governing body FIFA is closely monitoring developments involving Senegal following the recent ruling by the Confederation of African Football Appeals Committee, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

FIFA is said to be scrutinizing the situation carefully, warning that any violation of the CAF decision which officially confirmed Morocco as winners of the Africa Cup of Nations could attract severe sanctions.

Particular attention is being paid to reports suggesting potential attempts to use an international fixture on the FIFA calendar to promote actions deemed inconsistent with established regulations.

According to the directive, any move by the Senegalese team to challenge or symbolically overturn the decision such as staging a trophy celebration—would be considered a breach of the rules governing international football.

FIFA is expected to respond firmly to any such action, with possible disciplinary measures including suspension, as part of efforts to safeguard the integrity of the competition and uphold respect for decisions made by recognized football authorities.

The global body is also anticipated to issue an official communication reinforcing its stance, specifically prohibiting the use of international matches for activities that contravene sporting ethics or promote unrecognized outcomes.

Matches played within the FIFA international calendar fall strictly under its jurisdiction, requiring all participating teams to comply fully with its regulations and respect decisions taken by competent governing bodies.
