FIFA Rankings: Nigeria Slips To 45th In the World, Now Sixth In Africa

The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has released its latest world rankings, with Nigeria’s Super Eagles slipping to 45th position globally and sixth on the African continent, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The new standings, announced on Thursday, reflect the results from the most recent international window, during which the Super Eagles managed to pick up only four points from their fixtures.

The drop underscores the need for improved consistency as Nigeria prepares for upcoming qualifiers and international tournaments.

Despite boasting a talented squad with stars plying their trade in Europe’s top leagues, José Peseiro’s men were unable to build significant momentum in their September outings, costing them valuable ranking points.

Morocco, who impressed at the 2022 FIFA World Cup by reaching the semi-finals, remain the highest-ranked African nation, while Senegal and Egypt retain second and third places respectively.

Algeria and Ivory Coast complete the continent’s top five ahead of Nigeria.
