Nigeria’s Super Falcons have held on to 36th place in the latest FIFA Women’s World Rankings, according to the update released on Thursday via FIFA’s official website, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Despite clinching a record-extending 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title last month in Morocco, the Super Falcons saw no movement in their global standing.
However, they remain the highest-ranked team in Africa.
WAFCON 2024 runners-up Morocco dropped to 64th in the world but are still ranked third on the continent.
South Africa’s Banyana Banyana stayed steady at 54th globally and second in Africa.
Ghana’s Black Queens, who finished third at WAFCON, slipped to 67th in the global rankings. Nigeria’s latest WAFCON triumph came after an impressive comeback from two goals down to defeat host nation Morocco 3-2 in a thrilling final.
Top 10 Ranked Women’s Teams in Africa (FIFA Rankings): 1. Nigeria 2. South Africa 3. Morocco 4. Zambia 5. Cameroon 6. Ghana 7. Côte d'Ivoire 8. Mali 9. Algeria 10. Senegal
