FIFA Sanctions Al Nassr For Irregularities In Ahmed Musa Deal

Al-Nassr have been banned from registering new players by FIFA after failing to pay Leicester City payments they owe from signing Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa in 2018, BSNSports.com.ng has sourced.

The Saudi Pro League side which exploded in popularity when they signed Cristiano Ronaldo last season have also added Marcelo Brozovic to their ranks, while the likes of Chelsea’s Hakim Ziyech have also been linked with the club.

However, they will not be able to bring in the Morocco international or anyone else due to the ban on registering new players.

The ban is due to the signing of Musa from Leicester in 2018, with Al-Nassr initially shelling out around £14m for the forward, reports the Mirror.

The Nigeria international would go on to play 60 times for the Saudi side, winning the Pro League, and FIFA have ruled that Al-Nassr have failed to pay Leicester €460k (£390k) plus interest in add-ons that were agreed in the 2018 transfer.

The ruling stated that the ban would last for three registration periods, but Al-Nassr are hoping to curtail it by making the payment to the Foxes in the near future.

The club have said that the issue arose before the Public Investment Fund (PIF) acquired Al-Nassr and the new regime will resolve the problem promptly.

Musa joined Leicester from CSKA Moscow in July for £16.6m but never cut the mustard in the Premier League, scoring just twice in 21 top flight appearances.

The 30-year-old was loaned back to CSKA before being sold to Al-Nassr and is now with Turkish side Sivasspor.
