Sampson Adedeji
Ahead of the 2022 FIFA Women's World Cup, Nigeria's Flamingoes group opponent New Zealand have released their final list of 21 players for the competition, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The team largely of high school girls has been in a closed camping exercise under coach Leon Birnie.
Two players of the team, Auckland United duo Milly Clegg and Ruby Nathan played in August’s FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica.
The Young Football Ferns were nominated to be Oceania Football Confederation’s representatives at this World Cup after the Oceania qualifiers could not take place due to the effects of the Covid 19 pandemic.
Meanwhile, the team departed the country late on Thursday night for India venue of the competition.
They will face Nigeria's Flamingoes at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on October 14th.
