FIFA U17 Women's World Cup: Flamingoes Star Thanks Nigerians

Nigeria's Flamingoes star Afolabi Taiwo has thanked Nigerians for their support after they secured a surprise semi-final ticket in India, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Nigerian ladies surprised the football world on Friday afternoon as they edged out the United States of America in the first quarter-final game of the ongoing U17 FIFA Women's World Cup.

After the game ended in a 1-1 draw, Flamingoes scaled through via a penalty shootout.

"We finally broke the jinx! This victory means a lot to us, we are through to the semis. Thank you Nigerians for your undiluted support always," she said

Nigeria will face the winner between Colombia and Tanzania in the semi-final of the competition.
