FIFA U17 World Cup: Flamingos Fall To Firepower of Nigeria U15 Team

Nigeria U15 male national team on Wednesday defeated Flamingos 2-0 in a warm-up game played at the FIFA Goal Project, Abuja, BSNSports.com.ng

Two goals in the first half and no goal in the second half wrapped up the 2-0 bashing for the Future Eagles.

The second phase of the FIFA program started on Sunday with players from across Nigeria arriving in the camp at the FIFA Goal Project Abuja.

The Flamingos are part of the 26 teams that will partake in the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup which take place in the Dominican Republic from 16 October to 3 November. This will be the first time that the Dominican Republic has hosted a FIFA tournament. 

It will be played in two Dominican cities: in the capital Santo Domingo, at the Felix Sanchez Stadium, and in Santiago de los Cabelleros, at the CFC Stadium. Flamingos are in Group A with the hosts, Dominican Republic, Ecuador and News Zealand.

In the group stage, matches will be played at 4pm and 7pm (local time), while kick-offs will be at 3:30pm and 7pm in the quarter-finals.

The first semi-final, in Santiago de los Cabelleros, will be played on Wednesday, 30 October at 7pm, while the second will take place 24 hours later in Santo Domingo.

Santo Domingo will be the site for both the third-place match and the final on Sunday, 3 November, with the third-place match taking place at 2:30pm and the final kicking off at 6pm.

The 16 participating teams will be divided into four groups of four. The top two teams in each group qualify for the quarter finals. This will be followed by semi-finals, a match for third place and the final.

Group A: Dominican Republic, Ecuador, New Zealand, Nigeria

Group B: Spain, USA, Korea Republic, Colombia

Group C: Korea DPR, Mexico, Kenya, England

Group D: Japan, Poland, Brazil, Zambia
