FIFA U20 Women's World Cup: Falconets 'Stranded' In Turkey

The Nigeria U20 Women's national team, Falconets have spent over 24 hours in Istanbul, Turkey on their way to Nigeria from Costa Rica, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

The team lost 0-2 to Netherlands in the quarterfinal of the ongoing FIFA U20 Women's World Cup in Costa Rica. The two times FIFA U20 Women's World Cup finalists left Costa Rica on Tuesday at 6:30am and were pictured sleeping on bare floor and chairs at the Istanbul Airport after staying at a spot for 24 hours.

The situation got worsen as they have no transit visa to enables them secure accomodation in Turkey. This ugly incident should have been averted if the federation had made arrangements with their partner, Air Peace to convey the team to Nigeria without facing such terrible experience.

Falconets won all the three group C matches to earn maximum 9 points but their superb performance was put to a halt at the quarter final when Netherlands beat them 2-0.

Nigeria is a very bad country , when they were winning every one was proud of them including the so called government. How can you leave your citizens that have performed their foreign service to their best abilities stranded. Ghana didnâ€™t do this to their team . This is very bad. Nigeria needs to do better. This is meant to be a country that refers to herself as the big brother of Africa. This team has displayed citizen and cultural diplomacy, and this is as good as it can get. The leaders of the nation-state don't even represent or promote the country outside its borders. We need to do better and act right, as this affects our foreign policy and our image as a country.

This is very sad how can the country do this to their fellow citizens just cause the lost a match. How bout all their efforts and training did they think of all of that,this is so unfair.
