Flying Eagles head coach, Ladan Bosso has exclusively told BSN Sports that 70% of the players that were paraded at the just-concluded CAF U20 African Nations Cup in Egypt will make the 23-man list to the FIFA U20 World Cup in Argentina.

BSN Sports reports that Argentina has been announced as the host of this year's FIFA U20 World Cup after organiser stripped of hosting rights from Indonesia, however, the commencement date remained unchanged as it starts 20th May.

The two times World Cup finalists are yet to resume camping with few weeks to the kick off. The draw will take place on 21st April in Zurich.

Speaking ahead of the camp resumption, the head coach stated that there is no much time for preparation where many players will be allowed in camp for screening. According to him he has identified and invited couple of players that failed MRI in the Golden Eaglets as well as players from the NPFL into the camp of Flying Eagles.

"There is no time on our side, to make a good outing, all we need to do is to identify some players in different positions that we need to strengthen the team, like one player in the central defense, one holding midfielder, and about three good attackers. And we have invited about three players who failed MRI test in the U17 to join us when we resume. Also some players in the NPFL will join too.

"So, 70% of players at the AFCON will make the FIFA U20 World Cup list."

The 24 nations that qualified to the 2023 World Cup will be drawn into six groups of four teams. The two finishers in each group advance to the knock-out stage, together with the four third-place teams with most points. The round of 16 kicks off a single-elimination bracket through to the final, much like the senior men's World Cup format.
