Nigeria’s Falconets have been drawn in a challenging Group F for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland, where they will face former champions Spain, China PR and tournament debutants New Caledonia, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The draw ceremony for the 12th edition of the competition was held in Lodz on Thursday ahead of the tournament, which will take place from September 5 to 27 across four Polish cities.

The Falconets, one of Africa’s most successful sides at the tournament, are expected to face a tough test against Spain, who lifted the title in Costa Rica in 2022. China PR also arrive with significant pedigree, while New Caledonia will be making their first appearance on the global stage.

Nigeria will be aiming to surpass their performance from the last edition and revive memories of their best campaigns, having finished runners-up in 2010 and 2014.

Hosts Poland headline Group A alongside Mexico, Argentina and fellow debutants Benin, while defending champions Korea DPR begin their title defence in Group E against Colombia, Costa Rica and Portugal.

Group B features an exciting lineup of Brazil, England, Canada and Tanzania, while France, Korea Republic, Ghana and Ecuador make up Group C. Former champions Japan and the United States headline Group D alongside New Zealand and Italy.

Poland will host its first major global women’s football tournament, with matches scheduled to be played in Bielsko-Biała, Katowice, Lodz and Sosnowiec.

Six countries — Benin, Ecuador, New Caledonia, Poland, Portugal and Tanzania — will make their debut appearances at the tournament, while Korea DPR and the United States are both chasing a record fourth title.
