FIFA U20 World Cup: Gallant Flying Eagles Arrive Nigeria On Thursday

By Niyi Busari

The Nigeria U20 men's national team, the Flying Eagles will arrive in Abuja, Nigeria on Thursday via Ethiopian Airlines, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

The Flying Eagles were unable to fly past Korea Republic in the quarter-final of the 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup after beating the hosts and favourites, Argentina. The Koreans laboured hard to get the lone goal in the extra time after a 0-0 draw in the regulation time to end Nigeria's dream of picking Semifinal ticket. The loss means the players and officials of the team lost the opportunity to own a parcel of land in Abuja following a promise by a businessman that each player and the officials will get free land in Abuja if they win the title.. Aliyu Oroje Wammako, an ardent football fan and president of the Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria made the promise when he visited the players at their Hyatt Park Hotel base in Mendoza.

Despite their inability to get to the semis and final, Nigerians were satisfied with their performance and would be well-received at the Airport.
