Malawi women's national under-20 football team head coach Maggie Chombo has strengthened her squad ahead of the decisive FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifier against Nigeria by calling up foreign-based players Faith Chinzimu and Rose Kabzere, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The second-leg fixture against the Nigeria women's national under-20 football team is scheduled to take place on Saturday at Bingu National Stadium.

Malawi head into the encounter trailing 2–0 after defeat in the first leg at Remo Stars Stadium last weekend.

Midfielder Faith Chinzimu, regarded as one of Malawi’s promising young talents, currently plays for Swedish side BK Häcken FF. The 19-year-old was part of the squad that captured the 2025/26 Women’s Europa League title.

Also included in the squad is Rose Kabzere, who features for French club Montpellier HSC Féminines.

Malawi are aiming to overturn the first-leg deficit and secure qualification for the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup for the first time in their history.

Nigeria, however, remain favourites to progress after taking control of the tie with their victory in Ikenne.
