FIFA Women's World Cup: Flamingoes Pick Q/final Ticket

The Flamingoes of Nigeria have qualified for the quarterfinals of FIFA U17 women's World Cup in India after defeating Chile to finish second in group B with six points, BSNSports.com.ng can report. 

Having lost their opening match to Germany (1-2), the Nigeria U17 girls built on their solid performance from matchday 2 where they defeated New Zealand 4-0 to get past Chile on Monday afternoon.

Blessing Emmanuel opened the scoring for the quarterfinalists in the 4th minute of the game before Bisola Mosaku put the game past the reach of Chileans scoring Nigeria's second in the 82nd minute.

Chile pulled one back from the penalty spot in the 90 minutes to leave the final scores at 2-1.

The result meant Flamingos qualified from Group B as runner up behind Germany who finished top of the group with 9 points following a comprehensive 4-1 win over New Zealand. This is the fourth time Nigeria will be qualifying for the quarterfinals. Nigeria's Opeyemi Ajakaye won the Player of The Match award.
