FIFA Women's World Cup: Randy Waldrum Faces Sack

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) may replace Super Falcons coach, Randy Waldrum following the team not-too-good performance at the just-concluded African Women Nations Cup in Morocco. The United States tactician led the nine-time African champions to a fourth finish at the 2022 African Women Nations Cup.

The coach will only escape being axed if the NFF Technical and Development Sub-Committee after evaluation are convinced that his technical abilities can take Nigeria far at the FIFA Women World Cup next year.

In a communique released after NFF 77th Annual General Assembly in Lagos on Thursday and made available to BSN Sports which reads; "Following a detailed presentation by the Head of Delegation of Nigeria team to the 12th Women Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, Ms. Aisha Falode, the Executive Committee directed its Technical and Development Sub-Committee to hold a meeting and make recommendations on the way forward for the Senior Women National Team, Super Falcons, including but not limited to a thorough evaluation of the capability of the coaching crew to lead the team to a creditable performance at the FIFA World Cup finals in Australia and New Zealand next year.

The Falcons finished fourth at the last WAFCON tournament in Morocco and lost three matches in six games.
