Nigeria’s U-17 women’s team, the Flamingos, completed their final training session on Monday in preparation for Tuesday’s FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Round of 16 encounter with Italy, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The session, lasting approximately 90 minutes, focused on tactical refinement and match-readiness as the team prepared to face an Italian side that has maintained an unbeaten run in the tournament.

Team officials confirmed that midfielder Ayomide Abubakar will miss the fixture after sustaining a knee injury in the final group-stage match against Samoa. The player is currently under medical supervision to assess the full extent of the injury.

Despite the setback, team captain Shakirat Moshood and midfielder Fatimoh Shuaib expressed optimism about the Flamingos’ chances, emphasizing the squad’s determination and confidence to deliver a strong performance against the Italians.
