FIFA World Cup Playoff: Nigeria Protest Letter Against DR Congo Surfaces Online

The protest letter submitted by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to the world football governing body FIFA over the alleged use of ineligible players by Democratic Republic of R Congo Football Federation during the World Cup playoffs has surfaced online, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The controversy surrounding the playoff fixture has generated significant debate in recent weeks, with Nigeria accusing the Congolese side of fielding players who were not eligible to participate in the qualifiers. 

However, FIFA is yet to issue an official verdict on the matter.

The three-page protest letter, which details Nigeria’s complaints and lists the players allegedly involved, was made public by Nigerian-born, United Kingdom-based journalist Osasu Obayiuwana.

In the document, the NFF reportedly urged FIFA to investigate the matter thoroughly and apply the appropriate sanctions if the allegations are confirmed. 

The letter also outlined specific instances in which the players in question were allegedly used during the playoff fixtures.

Despite the growing discussions surrounding the issue, FIFA has not yet announced a final decision. 

The ruling is highly anticipated as teams prepare for the decisive phase of the playoffs, with qualification for the next edition of the FIFA World Cup at stake.

Observers believe the outcome of FIFA’s investigation could have a major impact on the playoff standings and the qualification hopes of the teams involved. 

The football body is expected to release its verdict before the final round of the playoffs commences.
